Pisa is one of the most visited cities in Italy, famous for it's Leaning Tower and for it's location in the region of Tuscany (famous for it's hill-villages and cuisine). Aside from the Leaning Tower of Pisa there are a selection of other sights well worth visiting whilst you are in the vicinity - Duomo di Pisa and the Baptistry, for instance, are architectural sights to behold, whilst Florence, Lucca and Cinque Terre are all reachable by car. Many visitors to Tuscany fly directly into Pisa as it is home to the region's busy international airport, Pisa Galileo Galilei. A huge number of airlines fly into Galileo Galilei Airport including several from the United Kingdom: British Airways, Ryan Air, Thomson Fly, Easy Jet and Jet2.com among them. The airport itself has two levels, with the departure lounge on the second floor and the arrivals on the first.

If you are planning to hire a car upon arrival at Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport it is important to remember that there are not any car-hire desks within the terminal itself. The Airport offers a shuttle bus service which takes passengers to and from the car hire company terminal which stands apart from the rest of the Airport facilities. Among the companies which operate from this location are Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Hertz, Europcar and Auto Europa. From the airport precinct it is very easy to get into the city of Pisa itself - look out for the Via Ponte a Pigliera which will take you close to the centre.
